I have always been attracted to art--in all its forms--and became involved in a number of related activities. But it was only as an adult that I started dedicating myself to painting.
Painting permits the artist to choose the most realistic expression and the most abstract. It gives me endless possibilities, through an infinite range of combinations of colors, patterns, forms, lines and shapes and I try to fuse personality, emotions and creativity to achieve a universal resonance.
Painting allows me to reconcile my multicultural references: the influence of my Asian, African and European ancestors; my birthplace, Martinique, with its own multiethnic heritage; the various countries I have traveled to, the years spent in Latin America, in the south of France, and the Western civilization in which I am culturally grounded.
My paintings have their genesis in images that, by their context or their visual content, have an emotional impact on me. These I first absorb and later incorporate in a series of sketches. Once a preferred sketch is selected, the creative process flows, although modifications and adjustments are made until the work is completed.
Presenting my work allows me to share insights with art lovers and other artists. This mutual interaction is very important for the development of my art and the evolution of my work.
